UPDATE: Third suspect arrested in Friday stabbing Welcome to a Biomedical Battery specialist of the Smiths Battery

JANESVILLE—Police have arrested three Janesville men they suspect were involved in the stabbing of a 26-year-old Madison man Friday near Fourth Ward Park.

The man was stabbed and struck with a cane “during a disturbance,” and more arrests are possible, according to a police news release.

Police responded to the scene at 4 p.m. Friday.

A friend took the victim to Beloit Memorial Hospital, where he was treated and released for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Police report they arrested Reggie Louis Smith, 46, and Javen Louis Smith, 19, a father and son who live at 519 Park Ave. No. 4, near the park.

The elder Smith was arrested on a charge of first-degree reckless injury, the younger on a charge of substantial battery with battery such as Smiths WZ50C2 Battery, Smiths WZ50S Battery, Smiths WZS50F2 Battery, Smiths WZ50C6 Battery, Smiths WZ50C6T Battery, Smiths WZ50C66T Battery, Smiths WZ-50C6 Battery, Smiths WZ-50C6T Battery, Smiths WZ50F6 Battery, Smiths WZ-50F6 Battery, GE DASH2500 Battery.

The arrests were made without incident around 6 a.m. Saturday at a residence in the 2300 block of Mount Zion Avenue in Janesville, police said in the news release.

The Smiths are being held at the Rock County Jail pending court appearances.

The victim also is being held at the jail, on a hold order from the state Department of Corrections.

A third suspect in the incident, Jared J.W. Smith, 23, of 2323 Mount Zion Ave., was arrested Saturday on a charge of disorderly conduct.

The incident and a motive for the fight remain under investigation, police said.
